Good morning Vegas 😍 #sunriseonthestrip

Hello! I'm Amber Bufkin.

I gained the nickname, Buffy, back in elementary school. My gym teacher had alternative names for most every one of his students. He started calling me 'boof-kin' at first and it clearly made me upset because I cried about it to my parents who this said something to the school. So he changed it to Buffy. I liked Buffy better because that was also the name of my aunt and uncles dog, who later became mine. Buffy had stuck with me since and I tell co-workers to feel free to us it. You can too!

I majored in musical theatre at Wilkes University in Pennsylvania. It was tough because I had never really traveled to too many places till going to college (site unseen). I made some friends that I am now very close to but from a distance as they live in the North-East. Of course being a starving actress, I gravitated where there was food; the restaurant industry! I started my restaurant career at Hard Rock Cafe in Uptown Dallas when I was only 17 years old. I worked all through college during summer and winter break, as a hostess and retail sales in their rock shop. Once I graduated, I became a server, bartender and eventually a corporate trainer. When Dallas HRC went dark in D-town after ownership decided to close it, I transferred to Denver's Hard Rock. After living there a year and a half, I was ready to come home.

I worked at varies restaurants around the Dallas Metroplex and realized that it wasn't something I wanted to make a career out of. So I decided to go back to school. With the support and assistance from my family and boyfriend, I applied to the Graduate Marketing Certificate Program at Southern Methodist University. The program is designed for working professionals who want to either make a career change or further their marketing education. After the first class, I knew I had made the right decision. Even though I did not earn a Master's Degree, I still received the same education I needed to move in the right direction for my career choice.

Graduating from the program in 2015, I was able to secure a job as Marketing Manager for Omni Dallas Hotel. I absolutely love what I am doing now and I feel that the company nurture's growth in their associates. I get to work with a lot of travel influencers and always thought about doing it myself.

So here I am! I enjoy sharing my travels and eats along the way. Being in the hospitality industry has changed me so much and for the better. And what happened to that girl that wanted to be on Broadway the rest of her life? Well, I'm just starting to get back into it. I've been in a couple shows this year and can't wait for more. Theatre and performing is still one of my favorite things to do.

My biggest hope in sharing all my adventures is that you get that travel bug and go some place new or eat at a restaurant you wouldn't think of trying. I hope you turn into a foodie that loves to travel like I have!
